THE LIGHTSTONE GROUP SECURES 38,350 SF OF LEASE EXTENSIONS AT BERNIE'S CUMBERLAND PLAZA IN NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA

North Attleboro, Mass. (April 20, 2009) - The Lightstone Group, one of the largest private real estate owners in the country, today announced that it has signed three long-term lease renewals at Bernie’s Cumberland Plaza in North Attleboro, Mass., bringing their total square footage to 38,350, which is over 60 percent of the entire shopping center.

Bernie’s, New England’s largest independent retailer of audio and video, appliances, furniture and more, renewed for 21,450 square feet. David’s Bridal, a retailer of wedding apparel and quality wedding dresses at affordable prices, renewed for 11,700 square feet. Unique Dental Care, specializing in state-of-the-art cosmetic, general and specialty dentistry, has also renewed its lease for a five-year period.

“Bernie’s Cumberland Plaza is an extremely popular location for retailers as it is a heavily visited shopping center,” stated Jeffrey Dash, vice president of leasing for The Lightstone Group. “Bernie’s Audio & Video and David’s Bridal are long time tenants who have done extremely well in Bernie’s Cumberland Plaza, which provides area residents and visitors a variety of retail options.”

“Bernie’s Cumberland Plaza continues to be an extremely successful location for us,” noted Mike Honeyman, president of Bernie’s. “This area of Route 1 is superbly placed for a variety of visitors, and all shopping center tenants benefit from each other’s varied offerings.”

Among other tenants at the 59,100-square-foot Bernie’s Cumberland Plaza are Fedex Kinko’s Office and Print Center, which also recently renewed its lease, LA Boxing, and Newberry Comics. In addition, the facility is shadow anchored by another Lightstone Group property, the Christmas Tree Shops Plaza, a 100,000-square-foot shopping center that also houses Guitar Center and Namco, America’s largest dealer in swimming pools, products and accessories. Both destinations are well located in the market on Route 1, and have enjoyed higher than average occupancies.
